 GOING HOME JANUARY 1946

My name, as well as: Randolph, Chung, Row, Roett, Freeberg and Bowlings were posted and we were sent to Yokohama. We boarded a ship that took us to Portland, Oregon and borded a train there to Fort Dix, to be discharged.

  ORDERS TO PREPARE THE 544 EB&SR TO DISBAND OPERATIONS

 

MARCH 15, 1946-

  THE 544th IS RELEIVED OF OPERATIONAL DUTIES

 

APRIL 16, 1946-

  ALL REMAINING TROOPS ARE TRANSFERRED OUT OF THE REGIMENT

 

MARCH 1946-

  THE 544th ENGINEER BOAT & SHORE REGIMENT, HAVING COMPLETED ALL OF THEIR OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  WAS DISBANDED

 

EPILOGUE- CHARLIES WAR 1943-1946

I as millions of men was called into service to fight for our country in World War II. I was a teen age boy, others married with children and single men as well. The sacrifices of some of these men were far greater than that of a teenage home sick boy.
